(1) Was sitting in my boring room alone, staring at the ceiling
So sorry for myself, no wish to go on, lost in my own feelings
Then suddenly the door burst open wide, in stepped a stately man
All I could do was stare amazed and hear the words that he had to say

Take my hand and let me lead you

I will show you the light

Cos reality is waiting

Greet the sun in your eyes
(2) He led me out, I looked around and saw the grass and the clear blue sky
I knew that it was true and real and I'd just been wasting my life
The world is wide, so many roads are still waiting to be travelled
And everywhere I turn I hear these words he said ringing through the air

(3) So this is how it all began when I walked out and put my past behind me
Been travelling ever since, all over, never knowing where the night will find me
So if you ever feel as if you want to stop and drop and cry and be low
I'll come and lead you out and say the words that made me get up and go
