The Sandy Song

Once on a sunset I sat on the sand by the sea
Listening to whispering sounds of the sand serenade
I saw the snakes of the dust in their slippery dance
I heard them hissing their secrets, so simple and sad

Once in a century sentries of silence are seen
Voice and songs - they are soft, they are strange, they are slow
Sing me the song of the sand, sister, there is no sin
What's in this song, sister, what's in the music you know

Show me the silvery spots on the skin of the sand
Let in my nostrils the scent of the shimmering sea
The song is all filled with a sense that I don't understand
Music is all that I feel and I hear and I see

Dancing and singing for centuries here on the shore
Twisting and curving and winding with infinite grace
There comes the sun, they are gone, and the song disappears
Leaving my mind and my soul with a final embrace
